Champions for Change

Company Chef of Chabert Insurance of Louisiana, Greg Dufrene, took home two trophies this past Tuesday at a Lundi Gras chili cook off in the New Orleans French Quarter. Chef Dufrene entered a smoked tri tip chili (pictured). Cooking started at 9 am Monday morning and tasting for the general public began at noon. From the very beginning, his dish was an early choice for fan favorite, one of the awards up for grabs. Judging officially started at noon as well and the winners were announced at 3 pm with chef Dufrene taking home the Fan Favorite award and the Best in Show award.

The second annual Chili for Change Lundi Gras Cook off was hosted in downtown New Orleans at the Courtyard Brewery. They offered free admission to the public from 12 pm- 4 pm with DJ Rocky Block helping to celebrate. Tickets were sold for the chili tasting to fill up on before heading out to the parade routes. All of the proceeds and extra chili went to the Ozanam Inn, a local facility close to the organizations heart, who assists homeless and underprivileged members of the community by providing basic necessities. If you weren’t able to attend the cook off, please consider donating below, as their impact on the community is paramount to the future of New Orleans.
