Kristen, or Kris to just about everyone, grew up in Thibodaux and now calls Baton Rouge home. She started in insurance on the carrier side, learned the business from the inside, and found her way to Chabert.
What she loves about the work is simple: she gets to help people, and she gets to bring some empathy to an industry that could use more of it. She's honest about the frustrating part too. Agents don't set prices, and rates change just like the cost of everything else. What she can control is the effort, digging through your options to find the right coverage for your situation, even when the right coverage isn't the cheapest one.
She's big on policy reviews. Back in her carrier days she cleaned up one that hadn't been touched in ten years, including comp and collision on a 2001 Honda Civic that could have been liability-only, and the client's bill went from $187 a month to $89.
To know Kris is to know she's lived a million lives. She's an artist, a musician, and a writer, and she recently added an overnight baking business to the list. Her motto comes from her own writing: “Without empathy and clear communication we can't ever heal a nation.”
At home it's just Kris and her cat Beezy, who also answers to Beez, BEBE, Ramona and Beezus, and lately just “Cat.” Her perfect Saturday is unplugged, with live music somewhere and really good food. And no, she's not much of a sports fan. She just learned what a triple double is.
